Recycled plastic

When we began our sustainability work, one thing was clear from the start: we wanted to achieve the greatest possible reduction in our CO2 emissions. This is why we didn’t focus on a separate green product line—instead, we introduced recycled raw materials into all our products. This also applies to products we develop directly for our customers.

Recycled plastic in all products

The raw material is by far the largest source of CO2 emissions in our production. Phasing out virgin plastic and replacing it with recycled plastic is the single most important action we have taken to reduce our carbon footprint. By now using 60% recycled raw material, we have managed to reduce our total carbon emissions by 45% compared to 2018.

Maintained quality with recycled raw material

An important goal when we started introducing recycled plastic into our products was not to compromise on quality — our water traps must last for many years without leaking. Another key principle was not to create a specific green product line, but to transition to recycled plastic in all products for the greatest possible environmental impact.

60% recycled PP in all water traps

After intensive testing, we were able to launch the first products with recycled polypropylene (rPP) in 2022. Today, we have increased the amount of recycled raw material to an average of 60 percent in our products.

Along the way, we have learned that it’s not just about the percentage, and that other factors can provide greater added value for sustainability.

Where does the recycled plastic come from?

We use rPP (recycled polypropylene) from industrial sources, which is the purest form of recycled polypropylene. This ensures quality and availability.

In 2025, we also began testing other types of raw materials with an even lower carbon footprint than rPP, to further increase the environmental benefit.

Recycled plastic packaging

The use of recycled raw materials goes for all our products, including packaging. Packaging accounts for 4% of Prevex’s raw material usage. Currently, all our packaging consists of polyethylene film made of 51% recycled raw material. This equals savings of 200 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
